What
we do:
STF252 is producing the test
specification standards to be used in assuring interoperability of Hiperman
devices produced by different vendors. The standards are as follows:
DTS/BRAN-004T002-1
|
HIPERMAN; Conformance Testing for the Data Link Control Layer (DLC) Part 1: Protocol Conformance Implementation Statement (PICS) pro forma
|
DTS/BRAN-004T002-2 |
HIPERMAN; Conformance Testing for the Data Link Control Layer (DLC) Part 2: Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS & TP) |
DTS/BRAN-004T002-3 |
HIPERMAN; Conformance Testing for the Data Link Control Layer (DLC) Part 3: Abstract Test Suite (ATS) |

Why we do it:
HIPERMAN is a wireless access system that is intended for
broadband multimedia fixed wireless access as a flexible and competitive
alternative to wired access networks. It is aiming principally for the same
usage as HIPERACCESS systems, but is targeted at different market segments and
uses a different part of the spectrum. HIPERMAN standardization focuses on
solutions optimized for frequency bands below 11 GHz.
The primary feature of the HIPERMAN system to distinguish it from
competitive proprietary systems will be the level of interoperability that is
offered. It is anticipated that
this will lead to a much greater acceptance of radio based broadband access
networks than with the proprietary systems that are being brought to the market.
This advantage can only be realised if appropriate broad conformance test
specifications are available very soon after the equipment standard is
completed.
Time plan for the work:
We are starting the work in
September 2003 and should finish by the
end of December 2004.
