Why we do it:
Personalization and effective user profile management will
be critical to achieve eInclusion and eAccessibility. The
objective of this work is to provide means to achieve the goal of the new ICT
era where services and devices can be personalized by the users in order to meet
the individual users’ requirements and needs, in various situations.
News:
Workshop on
Personalization and user profile standardization
We organized the second workshop on 28th
to 29th January 2009 at ETSI Headquarters,
Sophia Antipolis, France
The presentations
are available

See the workshop report.
What we do:
The ETSI STF 265 on "User Profile
Management" produced an ETSI Guide,
EG 202 325, that described
the concept and established a set of guidelines relevant to users and their need
for managing their user profiles to personalize their services and terminals. It
is necessary that different services and terminals understand users’ preferences
and offer an expected user experience. This STF will therefore build on the
results from STF 265 and perform further standardization work. This STF is
co-funded by EC/EFTA.
The following
two ETSI deliverables will be produced:
-
Deliverable on
standardized objects
The deliverable will be an ETSI Standard (ES) on standardized objects
(including settings, values and operations) related to personalization and
user profile management, a rule definition language for defining automatic
activation of profiles and a common terminology. This deliverable will
describe objects related to a range of services and devices with the goal to
suit all users’ needs including disabled, young and elderly people. The
intended readers of this deliverable are service developers and device
manufacturers who wish to develop services and devices that can be
personalized by their customers, as defined by the user profile management
concept described in EG 202 325 ”Human Factors (HF); User Profile
Management”.
The
latest draft is available at: draft
ES 202 746.
Your
input/comments are welcome!
- Architectural framework
The deliverable will be a Technical Specification (TS) on issues related to
networks, terminals and SmartCards. The intended readers of this deliverable
are profile providers, telecom companies and device manufacturers who will
implement and provide the underlying infrastructure and architecture of
network and devices necessary to achieve the user profile management concept
described in EG 202 325 ”Human Factors (HF); User Profile Management”.
The latest draft is available at: draft TS 102
747. Your input/comments are welcome!
