User Group
has something for everyone
The work of the ETSI Special Committee, USER GROUP spans an impressive array
of areas that contains something of interest for all users. The word "USER" has
many connotations. Whether you are the end consumer of a product/service or a
business/manufacturer using standards for the creation of your products and
services, you are sure to have an opinion to give.
The ETSI User Group would like to know what you think about the products and
services which exist today and your ideas about what you would like to see in
the future.
- Are you concerned about the reliability and privacy of your Voice or Data
communications (security of information and privacy)?
- Are you involved in the area of unified communication and collaboration?
- Are you involved in the area of video communication and concerned by the
interoperability of conference rooms, support of different devices lap top /
tablets / smart phones?
- Are you involved in the area of convergence between fixed and mobile networks
(fixed/mobile convergence)?
- Would you expect “one number” which addresses either your office phone and or
your mobile phone?
- Do
you have an idea to improve the service that you are already getting i.e. a more
suitable billing system, which can split between your private calls and your
business calls)
- Are
you concerned by roaming charges when visiting a foreign country? (Do you expect
some threshold alerts?)

Whatever your concerns, opinions or ideas ETSI USER GROUP is
available to listen. The market needs to tailor its products to the requirements
and desires of the users.
The USER GROUP was specially formed within ETSI to represent your views in the
very crucial first stages of standardization.
However, the main barrier to participation from users appears to be the lack of
awareness about the correct channels for voicing their opinions. Now they can
get in touch with the USER GROUP which has currently set up a discussion area on
the ETSI web site for this purpose.
You, the users, are cordially invited to use the web to send us your suggestions
or simply engage in a discussion on a particular subject. Some specific topic
areas have been provided as guidelines for discussion but any new suggestion is
more than welcome.
These discussion groups are expected not only to provide some useful input to
the User Group for its work, but also to raise users' interest in the other ETSI
Technical Bodies. The USER GROUP looks forward to your participation very soon.
