ETSI TC MTS is ETSI’s focal point for
testing and specification methodologies. It develops methods, languages,
frameworks, and guidance that help transform standards into testable,
verifiable, and implementable solutions across the Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) landscape. Its work facilitates high-quality standardisation,
trusted conformance assessment, effective testing, and reliable validation
supporting technologies from traditional networks to AI-driven systems.
TC MTS works in close collaboration with ETSI’s Centre
for Testing and Interoperability (CTI) and with other ETSI committees, while
also engaging with external Standards Development Organisations to promote
consistency, interoperability, and global relevance.
Why TC MTS Matters
TC MTS plays a critical role in strengthening the quality
and reliability of ICT standards and products.
·
Ensures product
quality
and certification readiness
·
Supports global
interoperability
·
Enables secure and
trustworthy systems
·
Bridges standardization
with real-world testing and validation
Key Areas of Work
🔹 TTCN-3 – The International Test Language
A powerful, platform-independent language for specifying
and executing tests across domains such as conformance, interoperability,
security, performance, and real-time systems.
🔹 Test Description Language (TDL)
A high-level notation that captures test intent, bridging
design and execution while improving consistency, reuse, and efficiency.
🔹 AI Testing, Auditing & Documentation
Frameworks and methodologies to ensure transparent,
trustworthy, and high-quality AI systems
, including continuous compliance
and structured documentation.
🔹 Testing Support for ICT Technologies (TST)
Guidelines, studies, and catalogues supporting testing
for emerging ICT domains not covered elsewhere—ensuring robust validation
across evolving technologies.
