TC CABLE (integrated broadband cable telecommunication networks) is responsible for the creation, development and maintenance of standards and other ETSI deliverables related to integrated broadband cable telecommunication network technologies.

Responsibility:

The responsibilities of TC CABLE are:

  • Producing ETSI deliverables relating to integrated broadband cable telecommunication network terminals, including e.g. cable CPE devices and network terminating devices
  • Producing ETSI deliverables relating to integrated broadband cable telecommunication network infrastructure, including network topologies, HFC (hybrid fibre-coax) network distribution, data over cable systems, and frequency management
  • Producing ETSI deliverables relating to services delivered across integrated broadband cable telecommunication networks
  • Producing ETSI deliverables relating to energy efficiency and sustainability for integrated broadband cable telecommunication networks
  • Producing ETSI deliverables relating to security of integrated broadband cable telecommunication networks and services
  • Cooperating with other ETSI technical bodies by contributing expertise on cable technologies and/or by assessing potential impact on integrated broadband cable telecommunication networks and services

To achieve these responsibilities TC CABLE will maintain comprehensive cooperation relationships with other ETSI technical bodies and SDOs in areas of common interest. Specific groups with potential for common interest both within and outside of ETSI are listed in the Annex. Cooperation includes maintenance of direct liaisons as well as studying the applicability and implementation of drafts and deliverables.

Areas of activity:

TC CABLE covers the following technology areas:

  • Hybrid fibre-coax physical plant technologies,
  • Data over cable technologies,
  • Customer premises equipment and gateways,
  • Provisioning and network management of cable systems,
  • Frequency and spectrum management in the integrated broadband cable telecommunication network frequency bands (*),
  • Shared and cloud technologies as applied in integrated broadband cable telecommunication networks,
  • Convergence and coexistence of integrated broadband cable telecommunication networks and services with other technologies such as fixed-mobile convergence (FMC),

as well as any other technology that is relevant for the operation of integrated broadband cable telecommunication networks and/or the provisioning of services delivered across this network.

Services for residential and business users addressed in the context of the technology areas listed above include:

  • Broadband and data services
  • Voice and multimedia services
  • Digital video service
  • Cloud-based services
