Dr. Walter Featherstone

WALTER FEATHERSTONE is a Senior Standards Engineer at Apple, with over 20 years’ experience in the mobile telecommunications industry during which standardization and research have been a central theme. In 2021 he was elected as Vice-Chair of ETSI ISG MEC, whilst already holding the position of Deployment and Ecosystem Development Chair having been elected in 2019. He has been an active contributor to the ISG since 2016, leading the group’s OpenAPI work as rapporteur and appointed as Technical Manager with a focus on architecting for open source in 2017. Prior to joining Apple, he worked for Samsung R&D Institute UK and before that VIAVI Solutions. He also previously worked at Motorola Mobility during Google’s ownership, Nokia Networks and Motorola Solutions. He gained his PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Leeds, specializing in Super Resolution Direction Finding. Walter is a chartered member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and is the IET Swindon Local Network Chair.

Dr. Alice Li Senior Standards Expert | Huawei

ALICE LI is a Senior Standards Expert at Huawei Technologies UK, with over 20 years’ experience in the mobile telecommunications industry. Prior to joining Huawei in 2020, she worked for Vodafone where she was also active in ETSI ISG MEC. Prior to Vodafone, she worked at Fujitsu Laboratories and Motorola. She has been active in several major SDOs and alliances -- ETSI ISG MEC, 3GPP SA1, 5G ACIA and 5GAA. Particularly in MEC ISG she has been the rapporteur and contributor to several major WIs, including Edge Application Enablement API and recently API Conformance Testing specifications. She is also rapporteur of 5G service requirements specification in 3GPP SA1, as well as an active contributor in other organisations such as 5GAA and 5G ACIA. Mr. Uwe Rauschenbach

UWE RAUSCHENBACH is a senior standardization specialist at Nokia, contributing to the development of industry specifications that deal with the introduction of cloud technologies and related management mechanisms into telecommunication networks, namely ETSI Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC), ETSI Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and ETSI Zero-touch network and Service Management (ZSM). Another work area are 3GPP API specifications that enable the 5G core components to communicate, and that allow third-party applications to access network assets. Uwe has been one of the active ETSI MEC delegates from the start, hosting the MEC#1 meeting in Munich in December 2014. He is the rapporteur of the MEP API framework and has been an active contributor to the MEC architecture. Uwe was instrumental in the cross-SDO alignment with ETSI ISG NFV. Previously, he has worked in other standards developing organizations such as the IETF, the DVB Project and the Open Mobile Alliance on various topics including RTCWeb, Network APIs and Mobile Television. Uwe has a background in university and industry research in the fields of media coding and networked multimedia services and holds a PhD from the University of Rostock for works in image coding and image communication.

Ms. Hongmei Zhu

HONGMEI ZHU is a Senior Engineer at China Telecom, with over 20 years’ experience in the mobile telecommunications industry. She led the testing and experimentation of 3G/WCDMA, followed up on 4G/5G solutions, and promoted the commercialization of the product in the early several years. Later she was active in SA1 and EC in SA2 as an standard representative. Currently she has been focusing on ETSI MEC and she was a rapporteur and contributor to several major WIs, including requirements and scenarios, MECinPark , MEC application slice, UE identity.and actively promoting distributed network WIs. Now she is pushing the 6G pre research based MEC ISG.

JANE SHEN works in Mavenir responsible for Telco public cloud readiness and MEC technology strategy, driving new technology adoption and product innovation. She has been working in opensource communities for years holding various positions such as LF Edge board member alternative, LF edge Marketing group representative, Akraino API subcommittee co-chair and CNCF KubeEdge MEC SIG initiator. Since 2019 she started to engage in ETSI MEC activities. She held various leadership positions in engineering and technical planning in Mavenir and Futurewei. She is an experienced architect in 4G/5G NFV core network, MEC, OSS/BSS, and automation. She has been fully engaged in Telco Network Cloud Native movement and applying Data analytics and AI in the telco space.

ROBERT (BOB) GAZDA is a Senior Director in InterDigital’s Wireless Networking Lab. Bob is an accomplished technologist and engineering professional with over 20 years of experience in wireless telecommunications, distributed systems, networking, and embedded systems. Currently, Bob is working on research, innovation, and standardization focused on 5G and 6G Distributed and Converged Edge Computing and Communications Systems. Bob has served as an ETSI ISG MEC delegate since 2017, helping to engage developers with focused activities such as: OpenAPI specifications, pioneering the ETSI MEC Sandbox, MEC Hackathons, etc. Bob holds a Master, Software Engineering (MSE) degree from Carnegie Mellon University, a MS in Computer Engineering degree from Villanova University, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University.

CHANTAL BONARDI is a Technical Officer within the ETSI Secretariat and has 30 years of experience in International standardization. She has provided support to more than a dozen ETSI TBs or ISGs and has gained considerable experience on the world stage. She is mainly renowned for her knowledge in the standardization aspects of public safety/emergency communications and multimedia delivery/broadcasting. Since 2017, Chantal has broadened her scope by providing support to ISG MEC. She has also been actively involved in the Global Standards Collaboration (GSC) as Convenor of a Task Force and in promoting the results of the ETSI work at International Conferences.

Ms Nurit Sprecher
Head of standards network and service automation I Nokia

NURIT SPRECHER initiated and drove the industry effort to set up the ETSI ISG MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing) and successfully chaired the ISG during its first two-year term. She played an instrumental role in the creation of the ETSI ISG ZSM (Zero-touch network and Service Management) and serves as the vice chair of the group. Nurit has spent many years working as an expert system architect and technologist, defining the carrier-grade network and service architecture evolution and system design. She has contributed to many projects carried out in ETSI, O-RAN ALLIANCE, GSMA, IETF, ITU-T, IEEE and BBF and has participated in core discussions on the Next Generation Network with Tier-1 carriers and a number of governments. She is a contributing author to numerous publications.
