ARF 2020 Achievements

  • ISG ARF published its first Group Specification, GS ARF 003 v1.1.1, a reference architecture for AR solutions.
  • The group membership grew to 24 (from 20).
  • The online sessions co-organised with The AREA and the EU-funded XR4LL project was a great success despite the cancellation of the in-person event. As an example, the session on Spatial computing and AR clouds was viewed over 200 times on YouTube in addition to the 40 views during the live streaming; this is roughly 3 times the number of people who would have attended the in-person event (room capacity was 80).
  • ETSI was instrumental in communicating about the work of ISG ARF with 24 articles and tweets, 4 interviews, 1  thought leadership article, 1 BrightTalk webinar viewed over 250 times.
  • 2 new MoUs signed with Khronos and Open AR Cloud.
  • ISG ARF approved the analysis workflow to apply to the Reference Points (RP) for providing technical specification or guidelines, agreed the 4 most important sets of RPs to work on and made significant progress on the initial cluster around ‘real world model’
  • ISG ARF initited discussions on providing an open source implementation
