Testing Languages

ETSI test specifications include Test Purposes, Test Descriptions and Test Cases (Read More...). ETSI TC MTS has standardized a number of languages dedicated to the specification of these different documents in an efficient and precise manner. Other benefits include a common understanding across the testing community, easy maintenance and specialised tool support.

TPLan is used to express Test Purposes and TTCN-3 is used to specify Test Cases which, with appropriate tools, can be compiled and executed on real test systems. 

TDL (Test Description Language) is an intermediate representation between TPLan and TTCN-3. TDL has been standardized by TC MTS.
