Communication services may have different effects with tasks

  • high in socio-emotional content
  • involving interpersonal perception

Better outcomes

  • Negotiation
    • With visual services (video and avatar communication) than with audio
  • Persuasion
    • Arguing out of own conviction (more emotional task)
      • With text and video rather than with audio
    • Arguing on behalf of someone else (less emotional task)
      • With audio rather than text and video
