What are User communication tasks?

Current focus is on person-to-person communication tasks

People communicate to achieve objectives or tasks

  • E.g. reach agreement, learn something, social contact

Tasks represent what people want to achieve with a communication service

Psychological dimensions of communication can be applied to identify:

  • Factors that may influence service choice and user behaviour
    • E.g. urgent communication, interactive communication
  • Distinct user communication tasks
    • E.g. interview, negotiate
