Effects of Social presence

Some studies have found effects on performance

But effects are

  • Difficult to predic
  • Dependent on the task

Sometimes performance is improved with

  • Higher social presence
  • Lower social presence

Sometimes there is no difference in performance

  • Even if users perceive a difference in social presence
