IMPACT Framework Proposal
In the Framework proposal three sets of actions are proposed.
Set of
actions 1
Promotion of ETSI visibility in Latin America sub-regional organizations
A
number of missions performed recently have demonstrated the interest for ETSI to build
links with Latin America sub-regional organizations. Such was the case for the Mercosur
area and Central America (Comtelca). An awareness-type of mission was scheduled in
co-operation with the Andean Community but could not be performed due to contract-timing
issues.
ETSI
proposes to develop this sub-regional contacts policy in The Andean countries, the
Caribbean region, and further develop co-operation actions with these organizations
(technology workshops…).
Set of
actions 2
Answer requests for assistance/information from Latin America countries
On
several occasions, ETSI has received requests from Latin America telecom players
(companies, test labs, institutions…) to help them better understand either the
European standardization system and/or specific technology issues. Such was the case for
DVB standards in Argentina & Brazil, GPRS in Costa Rica & Panama…
ETSI
proposes to address these requests and to further develop a workshop programme in
co-ordination with ETSI members.

actions 3
Finalize & give life to the Agreement with CITEL
After
months of work, making contacts, and pushing information, a formal Agreement with CITEL is
to be signed between ETSI and CITEL.
In
the context of the EU-LA proposal, ETSI proposes to give life to this agreement: in
co-ordination with ETSI members and CITEL, design an action plan for the organization of:
- Seminars,
meetings and round tables on matters of common interest
- Collaboration
on joint projects
- Training
- Joint
publications
