Scope and Field of Application |
Document standards in seven areas which can or will address the unique challenges of virtual worlds: Virtual economy and society, Virtual experiences, Human interfaces and AR/VR devices, Reality capture, Artificial Intelligence, Data management , Infrastructure. Information will be compiled about standardization activities that impact development of virtual world technologies, including core enablers, components, services, and AR/VR devices, and address challenges common across all types of virtual worlds, including transactions, governance, cybersecurity and privacy. Basis for evaluation of each standard or activity will include its proximity to one or more of the seven virtual world areas, the size and composition of the working group and history (track record) of delivering standards that are widely adopted, the maturity of the standard, its adoption, and other criteria to be developed by the experts.
