Title |
Satellite Earth Stations and Systems (SES); Edge delivery in 5G through satellite multicast Edge delivery in 5G through satellite multicast |
||||||
Scope and Field of Application |
Technical analysis of how to configure satellite networks in order to integrate in 5G for edge delivery and identify the design rules that optimises edge delivery via satellite in 5G system. In particular the following use cases will be considered mostly in unserved and underserved areas: MEC updates (Multi Access Edge Computing), CDN cache updates (Content Delivery Networks), Linear and non linear multimedia streaming. The analysis embraces satellite specific issues such as security, scaling (acknowledgement from massive number of devices, robust delivery), Inter MEC or caching / satellite network orchestration, multicast mobility between spots (e.g. on board aircraft, connected cars,…), architecture/interface. The study identifies existing standards and leverage as much as possible the most relevant ones considered for 5G system. | ||||||
