Scope and Field of Application

The purpose of this work item is to refine and enhance clause 6.3.9.4 in ETSI GS ENI 005. GS ENI 005 defines Intent Policy as “a type of policy that uses statements from a restricted natural language.” However, even a restricted natural language can still have ambiguity (e.g., words or phrases may have multiple interpretations, context-dependent meanings may not be fully captured, and implicit assumptions in the intent may not be clear). In addition, mapping high-level goals to specific network configurations, ensuring consistency across multiple translated policies, and resolving conflicts between different intent statements are still very challenging. Hence, there is an urgent need to specify how to ensure that any translated intent policy is acceptable and correct. In clause 6.3.9.4 of ETSI GS ENI 005, a unified architecture is introduced. This document will deliver deeper and provide technical specifications for pre-processing the intent policy. This GS defines the parser from the aspects of architecture, working pipelines and AI model requirements in addition to the grammar of the external DSL.
