Scope and Field of Application |
Characterise the targeted use cases for FSO: inter satellite links, earth-to-space and space-to-earth for telecom mega constellation. Identify and analyse existing technologies and standards relevant for the definition of Free Space Optical links able to support around 100 Gbps and higher throughput per direction at least for inter satellite links, earth-to-space and space-to-earth use cases. The analysis includes the identification of the operational constraints the link shall support e.g., jitter, max Doppler and latency variation, beam pointing error, number of supported beams per transceiver, impact of the environmental light... . Identify the time line for such FSO standard development (covering physical up to network layers). |
