Founded in 1994, L-Soft international, Inc. develops and licenses the original (Eric Thomas) LISTSERV® software, now available for VM, OpenVMS, unix, Windows NT and Windows 95. Originally introduced in 1986 (six years before Majordomo), LISTSERV® was the first mailing list manager and quickly defined the de facto standard for the management of electronic mailing lists. LISTSERV makes it easy to create virtual communities and engage in discussion, research or professional development without having to remember to visit a bulletin board every day.

In 1996, L-Soft released LSMTP™, a high performance, high volume Internet mail program that allows the largest mailing list workloads to be carried on modest hardware. L-Soft also offers a comprehensive list hosting service, EASESM, which can be tailored to meet the needs of the largest newsletters in the Internet – or simply help hobbyists keep in touch with people sharing the same interests.
