Security Working (WG4)

Responsibility
The Security WG of ETSI TC M2M is responsible for:
- Serving as a centralized resource on
security matters for other TC M2M WG and for the purpose of
European Mandates where TC M2M is involved.
- Analyzing security threats and defining
adequate countermeasures and security framework within the scope
of ETSI TC M2M.
- Ensuring the overall security of the M2M
architecture and management framework.
- Ensuring that security and privacy
requirements are fully satisfied by TC M2M specifications.
Tasks
The
main tasks of M2M Security WG are:
- Performing security related analysis and
developing security frameworks for other M2M working groups and
mandates where TC M2M is involved. This may involve developing
and maintaining Technical Reports and contributing to Technical
Specifications.
- Proactively reviewing and contributing to
ETSI TC M2M Technical Specifications and Reports developed by
other TC M2M Working Groups to properly address security and
privacy matters.
- Proactively enforcing the global
consistency of M2M security solutions and providing necessary
evolutions in line with state-of-the-art cryptography.
Organization and working methods
The Security WG of ETSI TC M2M meets at
TC M2M Plenary meetings.
When needed additional physical or
virtual (e.g. conference calls) ad-hoc meetings may be
organized, upon agreement of the security WG regular
participants.
Electronic work to advance topics and
documents for the discussion in the WG meeting is encouraged.
