Title Zero-touch network and Service Management (ZSM); Automation of CI/CD for ZSM services and managed services
CI/CD Automation
Scope and Field
of Application
This work will study use cases, potential requirements, and possible solutions for automating continuous integration, continuous development, and continuous testing (CI/CD/CT) of software related primarily to management services and/or functions and secondarily to managed services. The automated testing especially the continuous testing will be considered in several stages of the CI/CD chain. Furthermore, it will be focused on identifying single and multi-vendor issues related to the treating of automated software releases and updates, their testing and delivery to an operator domain following the ZSM framework reference architecture defined in ZSM002. The study will also consider and identify CI/CD/CT for AI/ML-based applications, related use-cases and potential requirements, including recommendations for a possible normative work on that. This will be done taking into account relevant related AI/ML work that has been finalized or is currently in progress in ZSM and other SDOs as well as open-source projects. There is an intention to look at topics such as release models' compatibility, version control, and compatible delivery of builds across vendors and operator teams in operational environments. The study will also clarify the terminology in the CI/CD/CT context. The report will make recommendations on whether and which standardized specifications w.r.t CI/CD/CT are required. The study will consider existing standards and CI/CD/CT related sources where applicable.
