Maintenance of SIP Test Specifications

What we do :

The STF will produce the following deliverables, for TB approval:

  • RTS/MTS-0097-1[2] Methods for Testing and Specification (MTS); Conformance Test Specification for IETF RFC3261 SIP;
    Part 1: Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma.

  • RTS/MTS-0097-2[2]
    Methods for Testing and Specification (MTS);
    Conformance Test Specification for IETF RFC3261 SIP;
    Part 2: Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS&TP).

  • RTS/MTS-0097-3[2]
    Methods for Testing and Specification (MTS);
    Conformance Test Specification for IETF RFC3261 SIP;
    Part 3: Abstract Test Suite (ATS) and PIXIT proforma.

Why we do it:

The VoIP community, both within and outside of ETSI has shown a strong interest in the MTS SIP test specification and this is being widely implemented and used. As a result, MTS has received a number of Change Requests suggesting improvements to the PICS, TSS&TP and TTCN-3 ATS.

Due to the complexity of these test specifications and the fact that VoIP is a relatively new and evolving technology, both in terms of standards specification and testing an STF is needed to undertake this maintenance task.

Time plan for the work:

We intend to complete the work by 31st December 2005.
