Scope and Field of Application
|
This work item will develop a Technical Specification (TS) supporting the secure delivery of software components affecting compliance to the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) to radio equipment. Specifically, these mechanisms will establish a standardized approach for updating new software on radio equipment, addressing scenarios where the software is provided either by the hardware vendor or by third parties. The proposed solutions may become relevant within the scope of RED Article 3.3(i) and Article 4, in case that those articles are being activated in the future. It will leverage mechanisms described in ETSI TS 103 095.
The proposed TS will contribute to a cohesive and standardized approach for the software reconfiguration of radio equipment, promoting innovation, enhancing device functionality, and ensuring regulatory compliance across the European market. By addressing both horizontal and vertical requirements, this work item aims to create a versatile and robust framework that can be adapted to various technological advancements and market needs.
