ERM TG27: RADIO SITE ENGINEERING

Terms of Reference

Project Type:

Guides drafting

Rapporteur:

Roger Wilkins

Reports to:

TC ERM

Title:

ERM TG27 – Radio Site and Equipment Engineering

Timetable:

4 meetings per year

Task:

To produce practical and cost effective methods and guidance on the following topics for all other specialist TGs within ETSI (and other outside agencies as agreed by TC ERM):

  1. Radio Site Engineering
  2. Measurement Methods for RF fields
  3. Measurement Uncertainty for existing and new technologies
  4. Technical issues related to multi-radio equipment

Radio compatibility studies other than compatibility in connection with installations are outside the scope of activities for TG27

Work plan:

To be advised.

Work Programme Items/ETSI Deliverables:

  • EG 200 053             Radio site engineering
  • EG 202 373             Methods of measuring RF fields
  • EG 202 290             Measurement uncertainty and test methods

Task Group Closure/ Nomination of a Maintenance Rapporteur:

To be advised.

Other Issues/Remarks:

The group may concern itself with technical issues regarding multi-radio equipment, not only when using the same frequency band but also the possible interference between transceivers when separate bands are used and make recommendations as necessary.

It is recognised that to ensure efficient use of innovative new technologies, it is essential to ensure that performance characteristics of radio equipment (that must comply with the requirements of the EMC and RTTE Directives) are defined in manners that are acceptable to, and easily understood by, the manufacturer, customer and user.

This means that the performance characteristics must be defined in a manner clearly understandable by non-specialised but competent radio engineers. These characteristics should also be measurable with commonly available test equipment.  Any test procedure must be achievable in a practical and cost effective way.

Approval of Terms of Reference by TC-ERM:

Approved at ERM#15, revised at ERM#17 and ERM#28.
